KBCC Area fellowship groups and house groups were set up for church members and friends to meet together during the week and further study God’s word. Each group is small starting with 5 people and growing up to as can be contained (mostly 15). At this point, if it is appropriate the group divides into two groups and hopefully starts growing again. Area fellowship is an important feature of Korle-bu Community Chapel. It is time to get to know each other better as we seek to know more about God together. Knowing more about each other makes it easier to help each person learn what God has planned for them and encourage them to reach their potential and fulfill their goals. These small groups are the centre of the church’s pastoral care where the group endeavours to meet the needs of the people within the group, or those who are attached to the group for the purpose of prayer and support. Every person in the church is unique and so each group is also unique, meeting on different days and at different times and often studying different material. It’s possible to find the group nearest to you by contacting the Area Fellowship Co-ordinator (currently Mr. Quashie Doku). However, it might be that a particular night etc., might suit you better. Talk to the group leader or members. Cell groups were built on the 4 W’s principle – Welcome, Worship, and Word & Witness – although these aspects are found in the other groups as well. All have a vision for personal and group growth.
We believe there is a specific gap we would like to fill for a group that does deeper bible study, linked to the themes of Sunday sermons. It will probably meet bi-weekly as there are some for whom a weekly meeting is too much. We also want to make sure area fellowships are well connected to other parts of church life, we are creating a pool of material that we talk about and share so that groups will often work on similar material, though it will be selected to suit the particular area fellowship. If you’re not in an Area Fellowship Group already, please feel free to talk to any of the area fellowship leaders around you or any of our Pastors.
